A renowned Somali elder was killed in a knife attack in the southern port city of Kismayo, about 500Km south of Mogadishu on Friday, witnesses and police said.
The incident happened after a scuffle between the slain elder – Abdirahman Mohamed Arab and Omar Farah Ismail (Loohan) over the selection of MPs for the upcoming Somalia’s lower house legislators.
The two elders have been in deadlock and loggerhead in the past few weeks over the electoral process of their clan’s allocated lawmakers in the Somali parliament, according to the sources in Kismayo city.
Omar Farah Ismail known as “Loohaan”, the killer has managed to escape from the crime scene immediately before the arrival of police. He is at large and being pursued by the local security forces.
